Perito Moreno Glacier, Patagonia

Leaving Calafate, toward Lago Argentina
Andes Mountains near the Fitz Roy Range, Patagonia. Approaching the Perito Moreno Glacier
This Glacier is about 19 miles long and one of only three Patagonian Glaciers that are still growing. It is similar to the Hubbard Glacier in Alaska because it often moves forward creating an ice dam, and it's also one of the few glaicers in the world to still be advancing. In all it's about 97 square miles of ice.

The location of the ice dam that ocurrs when the
glacier advances forward like a slow moving river of ice.

The little dark spots on the ice are people

Ice calving off into Lago Argentina

On the left side you see where the ice eventually advances foward, splitting the lake.
